David Lynch himself came to brief us and oversee the optical for this, the final sequence in the movie, of John Merrick's mother set in the stars.

Les Pace airbrushed the round 'glow' which he also shot on the rostrum camera. The star plates were shot in the same style as 'Superman' using an anamorphic lens with motorised zoom. All the plates were composited by Shelley Elbourne's aerial image team on Oxberry I.
